Description: The renovation of the Yad Labanim House reimagines a historic civic building as a contemporary place of memory, learning, and reflection. Located in the heart of Tel Aviv, the project restores the architectural character of the landmark while introducing a carefully crafted interior for its library and reading room. The design approach balances preservation and renewal. Original architectural elements, proportions, materials, and spatial rhythms, are respectfully restored, while new interventions remain subtle and precise. Within the library and reading room, warm wood finishes, soft lighting, and custom-built shelving create an atmosphere of quiet concentration and contemplation. The interior layout encourages both individual study and collective engagement, transforming the space into an accessible cultural resource for the community. Integrating contemporary design within a historic framework, the project strengthens the building’s role as a living memorial—one that connects remembrance with knowledge, dialogue, and everyday civic life.
