NAHARIYA - GA'ATON BLVD
Location: Nahariya (IL)
Type: Urban Heritage
Year: 2022-2025
Client: The City of Nahariya
Partners: Levant Architects, Teo Studio Landscape Design, David Ramirez Infante Water Management
Prizes and Recognition: 1st prize-winning proposal, runner-up national architecture prize, urban design category, 2024

Description: This project embraces heritage by restoring the Gaaton River’s historical course as the foundation of Nahariya’s urban identity. Once central to the town’s formation, the river is reimagined as a cultural and ecological spine that reconnects past and present. The plan recovers the original relationship between the settlement and its water system, while integrating green axes that echo the city’s historical layout. By preserving eucalyptus trees, expanding the delta, and linking mountain to sea, the design honors both natural and cultural heritage. The river thus becomes a living memory, shaping contemporary urban life while celebrating Nahariya’s origins.
