KORBACH MUNICIPAL BUILDING
Location: Korbach, Afghanistan
Type: Public Building
Year: 2014
Client: The City of Korbach

Description: The design for the new municipal building of Korbach offers a contemporary interpretation of the city’s architectural heritage, combining clarity and modernity with respect for local traditions. The volumes are shaped to echo the rhythm of the historic fabric while introducing new spatial qualities that reflect the municipality’s forward-looking identity. The building is seamlessly integrated into the surrounding public space, opening its ground level to pedestrians and inviting civic life to flow through and around it. Transparent façades and accessible entrances reinforce the building’s role as a connector between citizens and administration, while landscaped plazas and pathways extend the urban fabric into the site. This integration ensures that the municipal building functions not only as an administrative center but also as a vital public space, strengthening Korbach’s civic identity and community life.
