Description: As a complex intended to encourage an enriching atmosphere, we designed the new building for the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Nursing as a compound based on encounters of gathering areas for both students and lecturers including both formal and spontaneous study sessions. At the heart of the compound we placed the central courtyard with the built mass surrounding it in U-shape. Designed in terraces, the inner courtyard produces intimate seating areas while bridging over the level differences between the campus and the outside environment. Placing the classrooms on the lower two floors, we enhanced the role of the inner courtyard as the core of the buildings. In addition, we designed two main entrances from the campus level, allowing direct personal access to the various building sections. With a flowing circulation system, and a series of gathering and learning areas, the proposed building for the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Nursing that promotes a liveable vivid the learning experience.
